Physical Planning & Environment

This Committee addresses issues relating to:

  • Planning and development;
  • Building inspection & by-law enforcement;
  • Street names & numbering;
  • Planning and development approvals;
  • Street vending;
  • Public nuisances;
  • Regulations of trade and business activities;
  • Approvals for places of amusement licenses; and
  • Subdivisions and building permits

Infrastructure Development & Maintenance

This Committee deals with all matters concerning local infrastructure and the improvements thereof. Responsibilities include:

  • Parochial roads;
  • Drains & gullies;
  • Buildings & structures;
  • Parks & gardens;
  • Traffic management;
  • Minor water supplies;
  • Maintenance of municipal lands and buildings;
  • Monitoring the execution of contracts conducted by the Parish Council for works and services; and
  • Parish Disaster Planning and Management

Poor Relief

The Poor Relief Committee is a cooperative partnership with civil society organizations to assist in the provisions of welfare services to the poor and destitute of the Parish. These include Parish-based and national organizations.

Public Health

This Committee has responsibility for the following areas:

  • Licensing, including butchers, barbers & hairdressers, places of amusement, food handlers, and various trades;
  • Abattoir and other slaughtering places;
  • Air pollution, water purification, control of ecology and the environment;
  • Public cemeteries; and
  • Public cleansing and general sanitation

Civic & Community Affairs

This Committee handles matters relating to community development and liaison, cultural and civic promotion, cleanliness and safety. It also monitors issues pertaining to the enforcement of civic and municipal laws and regulations.
