Welcome to the St. James
Parish Council Website, the first of its kind in Jamaica.
 It
is indeed a historic occasion for the St. James Parish Council to
present its very own website, where persons can access information,
in addition to some of the services we offer.
We are proud to be the
first Parish Council in Jamaica with its own website, a venture made
possible by our hardworking Public and Community Relations Unit, and
also the invaluable assistance given by the Canadian International
Development Agency (CIDA) through the CIDA/Jamaica Local Government
Project.
The Website gives an
overview of the Council’s operations; who the principal players
are; what are the functions of the various departments of the
Council; the Budget of the Council and our strategic plans for the
current fiscal year.
The development of the
Website is just another step in the Local Government Reform process
which began over eight years ago. As we strive to become more
transparent and accountable in our operations, let me take this
opportunity to invite you to peruse the following ‘St. James
Parish Council - Performance Measurement Plan’ which outlines the
Council’s administrative plans for this fiscal year, and against
which our accomplishments are expected to be measured.
We at the St. James
Parish Council pledge to keep the citizenry informed as to
happenings, which will definitely impact their lives.
It is my hope that
persons locally and internationally will utilize offerings on this
Website, to learn more about the workings of local government in St.
James particularly, and Jamaica generally.
