During the months of April and May 2002, the St. James Parish Council held our first ever annual Community Fora at the local government level.  Response was enthusiastic, and we would like to thank the members of the public who attended.  Your input was lively, timely, and vitally important in enabling the Parish Council to respond effectively to the needs of the parish.

Where were the Community Fora Held?

The 17 electoral Divisions were clustered into 9 areas encompassing the entire parish, including both rural and urban areas (see chart below).  Buses were provided where possible to facilitate attendance.

What was the Purpose of the  Fora?

The purpose of the forums was twofold.  Firstly, presentations were given to inform the public about the responsibilities and services of the Parish Council, and secondly, to present the proposed recurrent budget 2002-3 and the Financing Plan 2002-3  Questions and concerns from the public formed the bulk of the allotted time.
